We regret to announce the death of Professor Albert Kligman at the age of 94, on 9th February 2010.
Through his contributions to dermatology during a career spanning over 60 years, major advances have been made. He did so many wonderful things during his lifetime - he contributed enormously to our knowledge of dermatology. With his investigative and experimental approach, he was one of the precursors of modern dermatology. His contribution to research on acne, hair, fungus, invisible dermatoses, and so many fields of our speciality have lead to major advances which are now taken for granted. He was also a key figure in the creation of the ISBS and always kept close links with the Society.
In September he was honoured by the university of Franche-Comté – Besançon – France, and received his last award as Doctor Honoris causa.
We will always be grateful to him for his dedication and vision and we present our sincere condolences to his wife Lori, and his family.

Pr Philippe HUMBERT

Chairman
