The implementation of a process that automatically detects body hairs and evaluates important efficacy parameters like length, thickness and density with greater accuracy compared to standardized and commercially available methods is the result of the latest research project of the proDERM method development team.
Due to an advanced algorithm the new method provides an increased statistical basis by detecting a very high number of analyzable hairs. It also enables a more accurate length measurement of the hair since its intelligent coding differentiates between hair above and beneath the skin surface. By using the first derivation for hair edge detection a very precise calculation of the hair width can be realized. The method has been validated by manual hair counting and manual pixel assessment. It is now part of the services offered to the global hair care industry.
