In vivo analysis of the skin by means of Raman Spectroscopy

If specific parameters are to be measured in an ‘in vivo live’ mode during the clinical study, ‘Raman spectroscopy’ is the means of our choice. The method allows in vivo investigation of dermatological parameters and drug penetration without damaging the skin itself. Compared to conventional ex-vivo methods such as ‘tape-stripping’ the key advantage is that the skin is examined in its’ natural environment. With an exceptional depth resolution, the method also allows accurate statements down to a few micrometers. The measurement is possible up to a skin depth of 400 μm.
